About

This is the first and still the only LGBTQIA+ centre in the Indian Ocean. It stands in the La Source quarter of Saint-Denis, next to the Alain-Lorraine library, in a small building the city put up for it and opened in 2021.

The association OriZon runs it and shares it with Requeer, Pilon, Kwir Mouvman and Timizé. What happens there: someone to talk to, psychological support, legal advice and help filing a complaint, help finding housing, family mediation, discussion groups, school visits, and the organising behind the Marche des Visibilités that closes the LGBTQIA+ visibility month each May.

In February 2023 the building was set on fire and covered in homophobic graffiti. It was rebuilt for about 155,000 euros and reopened in June 2024.

Reception hours are posted on OriZon's website. It is a community centre, not a bar, so it is worth writing ahead rather than turning up.
