Sauna Carré Rouge opened in 2014 on rue de la Donelière, in the commercial strip north of the Rennes centre, and it takes men only: gay, bi and curious straight men.
Inside there is a dry sauna, a hammam, a spa pool, a foam room and a labyrinth, with extra-large cabins, a sling, video rooms, a television lounge and a massage room off it. The bar holds a full licence and does light food. What the house makes most of is the terrace, which faces south and is the thing it claims no other sauna in Brittany has in usable form. Naturist sessions run on set days through the week, and parking on site is free.
A small counter sells poppers, fetish gear and accessories. Health organisations run screening sessions on the premises, which is worth knowing if that is something you would rather do somewhere unbureaucratic.
