About

Iskis is the LGBTI+ centre of Rennes and has been running since 2001. It sits at 6 rue Saint-Martin, in the Parc des Tanneurs just north of the centre, and it is open to anyone who walks in.

Most of what it does is practical. There are weekly drop-in sessions, peer-led discussion and support groups, a workshop that helps people through French administrative paperwork, and specific support for LGBTI people seeking asylum, including preparation for the OFPRA interview. It also does awareness work in schools and keeps a documentation collection, which is why students, researchers and journalists end up there too.

The centre organises the Marche des Fiertés, the Rennes Pride march, and Regard(s), the city's queer film and culture festival. It has worked under a mission contract with the City of Rennes since 2010. For a visitor it is the most reliable place to find out what is actually on, in a city whose bar scene has thinned out badly.
