Le Mas Pouantais is a maison d'hôtes at Pouant, in the Vienne, a little south of the Indre-et-Loire border and about a quarter of an hour from Richelieu. The buildings stand round a gravel courtyard with a fountain in the middle of it: a long stone barn with blue shutters and an outside spiral stair, a white house facing it, tiled roofs on both. The oldest part goes back to the sixteenth century.
Four rooms are let, called La Nature, La Vintage, L'Élégante and La Romantique. Dinner at a shared table can be booked in advance.
There is a pool and a good deal of garden, with loungers out on the grass. A spa has been built inside a greenhouse, and there is a massage room and a quiet sitting room to use afterwards.
