L'Hirondelle du Lac is a chambres d'hôtes on Avenue de la Tour in Peyrat-le-Château, beside the town's lake and 7 km from the Lac de Vassivière. Limoges is about 45 km away.
There are three rooms, Red Bird, Blue Bird and Green Bird, each with its own shower; some look over the water and some over the street. The house takes adults and teenagers from 15, each teenager in a room of their own, and no pets. English is spoken, and there is garage space for up to three motorbikes.
Breakfast is homemade from regional produce. In the evening a plateau gourmand, with an apéritif, wine and coffee, can be ordered ahead and eaten on the terrace above the lake or in the dining room. The swallows of the name nest around the house in season.
