Violette and Co is a feminist and lesbian bookshop with a café, on rue Jean-Pierre Timbaud in Paris's 11th arrondissement. It stocks feminist, lesbian and LGBTQIA+ literature alongside titles on antiracist, disability rights and ecological movements, and calls itself a librairie féministe, lesbienne et LGBTQIA+. It describes itself as a place for women, lesbians, LGBTQIA+ people and their allies to meet, talk and linger.
The ground floor holds the bookshop and café together. The café serves specialty coffee, tea, cold drinks and homemade pastries alongside the shelves, either to sit in or to take away, and runs a suspended-drinks scheme where a customer can pre-pay a drink for someone else to claim later. It also doubles as a small gallery, with a rotating programme of exhibitions by invited artists.
A smaller associative space sits in the basement, holding an art book collection and hosting the linked non-profit association's talks, workshops and podcast recordings. The ground floor is wheelchair accessible, with a step at the entrance; the basement is reached by an irregular staircase with a handrail.
The shop has run as a workers' cooperative since it was founded in 2004.
