Le Tango, also called La Boite a Frissons, is an LGBTQ+ dance club on rue au Maire. The room is a former guinguette dance hall built in 1896, which makes it one of the oldest surviving dance floors in Paris. It has run as a queer venue since 1978.
The format is unlike the rest of the gay clubs. Nights open with partner dancing, waltz, tango, rock and salsa, before the floor turns over to a normal club set later on. There are also tea dances and retro disco afternoons.
It pulls a wide age range and people who actually want to dance with someone rather than next to them. If you have never done couples dancing, this is a forgiving room to learn in.
