Le Petit Marais has been on rue Kervégan since 1998, on the Île Feydeau stretch where a good part of Nantes gay nightlife sits. It opened as a gay bar and now pulls a mixed crowd, with LGBTQ+ regulars still at its centre.
The music is house and techno with a heavy 80s and 90s streak, and there is a DJ on most nights. Once a month the place gives itself over to a drag afternoon run with one of the city's drag collectives.
The room is small and it fills up. It calls itself a club as much as a bar, which is fair once the floor is going.
