Le Pulse is a gay bar at the top end of Cours Julien, in the alternative quarter above the Vieux-Port. The room itself is small and air-conditioned, and most of the crowd ends up on the terrace outside whenever the weather allows.
The music is electronic rather than commercial pop. Residents and guests play indie dance, cosmic disco, acid, electro and techno. The bar also runs its own unofficial after-parties on Cours Julien on the Saturday of Marseille Pride, outdoors on the terrace, with free entry.
The crowd is mixed: gay men, queer women and straight regulars from the neighbourhood. Notre-Dame du Mont on metro line 2 is the nearest stop.
