L'Annexe is a gay bar on Rue Saint-Bazile in the Chapitre quarter, a short walk from the Réformés-Canebière metro station. It calls itself gay, gay-friendly and hetero-friendly, and the room usually holds a mix of all three.
The space is small, with a dance floor, and the music runs late into the night at the weekend. What reviewers keep returning to is the staff and the atmosphere rather than the decor.
It shares its management with the New Cancan, the gay club on Rue Sénac de Meilhan that ran from 1991 and has since closed permanently, which is part of why L'Annexe now carries a good deal of central Marseille's gay nightlife on its own.
