About

The Centre LGBTQIA+ Marseille opened in 2023 and occupies three addresses in a row on Rue du Chevalier Roze, near the Vieux-Port. It calls itself a centre by and for lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans, queer, intersex, asexual and allied people.

Number 17 is the associative space, where local queer associations have their offices and where a free library of essays, magazines, novels and comics on LGBTQIA+ subjects is open to anyone. Number 19 is the health and social space, run on a community health model, covering sexual health, psychological support, legal advice and help in the face of discrimination. Number 21 is the bar.

The bar is the part most visitors will use, and it is where the cultural and party programme happens: drag workshops, shibari classes, film screenings, discussion circles, queer game nights. Takings go back into the centre's work, and membership is needed to order at the bar. One evening a week is set aside for trans, intersex, non-binary and questioning people. The centre publishes a charter setting out how people are expected to behave in it.

Metro line 1 to Colbert or Vieux-Port, tram T2 to Sadi Carnot, bus 49 to Place Bargemon.
