Sauna Soho has been in the centre of Lille since 2007, a short walk from both main stations, and is men only. It calls itself the largest gay sauna in the north of the country, laid out on a single floor of more than a thousand square metres.
That floor holds a jacuzzi treated with ozone, a dry sauna and a hammam each split into two temperature zones, and a labyrinth of private cabins. A bar lounge with a terrace sits alongside.
The house publishes a guide for anyone visiting a gay sauna for the first time, and it is a fair measure of how the place runs itself: ring the bell, say it is your first visit, and staff will walk you through the cloakroom, the layout and the bar before you go any further.
