Moulin de Trusse is a four-room guest house in a mill in the Tarn, a few kilometres outside La Sauzière-Saint-Jean and about an hour from Toulouse. The house dates the building to the seventeenth century. It is run by a male couple, and the place is organised around slowing down: the owners describe it as a break in nature for disconnecting, and the rooms have no television.
The four rooms are named after grandmothers and each is furnished around a different set of old things. Mamie Trésor looks onto the bamboo grove and keeps 1960s magazines and a radio. Mamie Lulu faces the vegetable garden and carries knitting and sewing. Mamie Odette looks over the park. Mamie Rennes is the largest, the only one on the ground floor, with a dressing room and a small private terrace above the stream. All four have a king size bed and a private shower, and the other three are upstairs.
Outside there is a pool with loungers and hammocks, a garden laid out as several separate sitting areas, the bamboo grove and the stream. Breakfast is homemade and included, there is a table d'hôtes in the evening, and guests can use an equipped kitchen. Massages can be booked at the house, and the hosts also run workshops and tastings.
The eco commitments are set out at length and are part of how the place presents itself: local and organic food, bulk buying and composting, certified textiles, low-flow fittings and LED lighting, bicycles and electric bicycles to borrow and a charging point for cars. Parking is on site. The rooms are non-smoking and pets are not accepted.
