La Bergerie de la Gouvette is a small guest house at Gouvets, in the bocage south of Saint-Lô. It takes four people at most, in one bedroom with a large double bed and a second identical bed put up when there are three or four; the bathroom is shared and has a big walk-in shower. Linen and toiletries are provided, and the room has wifi and a television.
The garden runs to about 7,000 square metres and looks out over the valley, with trees, a terrace and a pergola. It is a working smallholding as much as a garden: there are sheep, beehives, three cats and a Newfoundland dog, and guests tend to meet all of them.
There is a table d'hôtes in the evening. Board games are kept for guests and there is somewhere locked to leave bicycles. The house is open all year, by arrangement, and English is spoken as well as French.
