Les Saulaies is a naturist guest house in open country about 25 km from Angers, run by a male couple. Nudity is the normal state of the place rather than an option at the pool: the house says you can live naked around the clock, and it is emphatic that it is not a libertine venue. It holds a Fédération Française de Naturisme licence, though guests do not need one of their own.
There are three ways to stay, all different. La Chambre Rouge is the conventional one, with its own shower room, a sitting room and a summer kitchen. La Yourte is a Mongolian yurt. Le Chalet is a small wooden cabin standing on its own in the grounds. A large breakfast comes with the night, and there is a table d'hôtes in the evening on request.
The grounds are a planted park with a pool under a telescopic cover, a wellness area with a sauna, a billiard table, a library and a pond with a naturist terrace for fishing. There is an atelier that takes exhibitions.
Massage is a large part of what the house does, both as relaxing treatments and as residential courses, and the programme runs to pilates, yoga, tai chi, osteopathy, a writing workshop and naked sport. A cat lives on the premises and has the run of the shared rooms but not the bedrooms, which is why no other animals can come.
It is a seasonal house, open from the beginning of April to the end of September, and outside July and August it will take a single night.
