Au Bas de l'Étang is a working farm in Cosges, in the Bresse jurassienne, where a farming couple let guest rooms and gîtes beside a pond. They take guests all year round, and anyone who wants to can join in with farm work for a look at rural life.
There are four guest rooms, each with its own bathroom: Les Jonquilles, Les Narcisses, Les Pivoines upstairs, and Au Bosquet Fleuri, a small studio for two with a kitchenette. The rooms are plainly furnished in a country style, some under sloping ceilings.
Three gîtes take families and groups. Les Coquelicots sleeps four and has a flower garden and a covered terrace, Les Hortensias is sized for a family or a few friends, and Les Violettes sleeps eight in a dormitory with a kitchen, a dining room and a covered terrace with a barbecue. There is also a pitch for a camper van.
The farm sells what it produces: poultry, garden vegetables, Limousin beef, milk-fed veal, eggs, butter, cream and cheese, and a farm meal can be added to a stay. Walking and fishing are close by.
