About

Passages is a queer and feminist resource house in Brest, carried by a group of local associations and individual members on a non-profit, volunteer basis. It opened in 2025 in a city-owned building in Pen ar Creac'h, a few tram stops out from the centre, and the building is now called Espace Madeleine Pelletier.

The space is shared rather than programmed by one organisation. Member associations hold their drop-in sessions here, and it takes one-to-one and group support, discussion circles, meetings, and cultural, social and civic events on gender, sexuality, feminism and discrimination. Its stated aims are access to rights, health and information, and working against isolation.

It exists for LGBTQIA+ people, for people who are questioning, for allies, and for anyone working on these subjects professionally or as a volunteer. The building was renovated before they moved in, and there is a ramp, a wide corridor and an accessible toilet with grab bars.

This is the community end of queer Brest rather than the nightlife end. It stands next to the Maison des Associations and the Pen ar Creac'h social centre, between place de Strasbourg and Pontanezen.
