Crunch Sauna is a men-only gay sauna near the Palais de Justice tram stop, a few minutes west of the Bordeaux centre. It opened after the fire that destroyed the city's previous sauna and has become the main one in town.
The upper level has a Finnish sauna, a hammam, a jacuzzi, large showers and a lounge, plus a bar with a full licence. The lower level is given over to cruising: a maze, private cabins, glory holes and back rooms.
The house is clothing optional, with nudity the norm and swimwear tolerated. Phones are not allowed anywhere in the building, a shower on arrival is required, and consent is enforced rather than assumed. The crowd runs from neighbourhood regulars to visitors, and the venue describes it as gay, bi and curious men, bears and younger men alike.
