Villa Balāo is a guesthouse for gay men only in Balaruc-les-Bains, on the shore of the Thau lagoon between Sète and Montpellier. It calls itself a gay boutique guesthouse, and naturism is welcome.
There are three rooms, each with a king-size bed, its own bathroom, air conditioning and a private terrace onto the garden. Kiumé is the largest and mixes natural materials with Dogon pieces from Mali, Otoko is bright and Japanese in style, and Muani, the smallest, is done out in wood and raffia with a Balinese feel.
Breakfast with local produce is included, and dinner can be booked at the shared table d'hôtes. The garden is a lawn with Mediterranean planting around a heated pool lined with loungers under large parasols, with a jacuzzi and a pétanque court beside it. Massages can be booked at the house.
