About

Château du Gué aux Biches is a Belle Époque château on a hill in a 13-hectare private park bordering the Forêt des Andaines, about a kilometre from the centre of Bagnoles-de-l'Orne. The house was built as a hunting lodge in the 1860s and rebuilt and enlarged in 1907 and 1908; the current owners bought it in 2017 and restored it, keeping the original details, before moving there permanently in 2020.

There are three guest rooms, two suites and one gîte, each named after a figure connected to the château or the town, among them the writers Paul Féval and Alexandre Dumas, who both stayed there. Guests have use of bicycles to explore the château's grounds and the town of Bagnoles, which is a spa town with thermal springs, a casino and a golf course close by.

The château hosts occasional events on its grounds, among them a yoga and hiking retreat and, in September 2026, an artist residency and exhibition run with a Berlin gallery.
