Street Pride Bar

Street Pride is a queer bar on Uudenmaankatu, between Kamppi and Punavuori. You cannot miss the front: rainbow stripes across the whole shopfront, a Karaoke sign in neon behind the glass, and tables out on the pavement.

The room splits in two. A bar lounge at the front for drinking and talking, and a karaoke area at the back with a self-service system, so people put their own songs on rather than queue at a host.

It calls itself the people's queer bar and programmes accordingly: guest DJs, quiz nights, drag, live acts, bingo and karaoke. The crowd is noticeably more mixed and more international than at the other Helsinki bars, and outside organisers book the room a lot for Pride and after-parties.
