Masken is one of the older bars on Studiestræde, the street that carries most of Copenhagen's gay nightlife, five minutes from the Town Hall Square. It bills itself in two words on its own front page: safespace and gay bar.
The room is small, loud and mixed in age. Music runs the night, with shows and themed events on top, and it fills up properly after midnight when the earlier bars start emptying.
Everyone is welcome, which the bar states plainly rather than leaving to be inferred.
