Jailhouse is the gay bar on Studiestræde built as a prison. Guests sit in cells, the walls are done in graffiti and bars, and the staff work in uniform. It runs a restaurant upstairs from the bar.
The theme is played for fun rather than for fetish, and the crowd is a mix of locals and visitors who came to see it. Regular events include bear nights and seasonal parties, and DJs play in the bar.
It sits a few doors from Centre Stage and Homoware, in the middle of the small block of streets that holds most of gay Copenhagen.
