Prague Pride is the biggest queer festival in central Europe and takes a full week, with the parade across the city as the day everyone comes for. The organisers put the last edition at ninety-five thousand people.
It is run by a Czech association that does this work all year rather than only in August. It keeps a community centre in the city with an open programme, a queer library, support groups, legal advice and a way to report a hate-motivated attack, and it runs school and workplace education and HIV outreach alongside the festival.
That is worth knowing before you go, because the festival week draws on all of it. The programme is not only parties: debates, workshops, exhibitions and a run belong to it as much as the parade does.
