Alexander Club is the gay nightclub of Sunny Beach, inside the Royal Beach Mall at the Barcelo. It opened in 2023 and carries on the name of a club that ran in Varna, which is why it calls itself the largest gay venue in Bulgaria outside Sofia.
The room is built around a purpose-built stage and holds a little over 200 people. Drag performances are the fixed point of the programme, with dancers, singers and comedians on the same bill. Between the shows the music follows whoever is in that night rather than one genre, and the bar works mainly on cocktails.
There is a dark room off the main floor, and quieter corners away from the stage. The crowd mixes Bulgarian regulars with holidaymakers from across Europe, and like most of the resort it is a seasonal place.
