La Réserve is a rustic bar a minute from the Grand Place, and it calls itself the oldest gay bar in Brussels. The room is narrow and wood-panelled, with a long list of Belgian beers and prices that are reasonable for a spot this close to the tourist streets.
It sits apart from the cluster on Rue du Marché au Charbon, which gives it a calmer, tavern-like feel that the bars on that street do not have. The crowd mixes regulars with visitors who have wandered over from the square.
