The Kaiserbruendl is a men's sauna in the first district, in a bathhouse that has been running for over 135 years. The building is the reason to come even before anything else: Moorish arches, columns, statues and painted ceilings over the pool, closer to a museum interior than to a gay sauna.
Behind that there is 1,700 square metres of the usual programme. Two saunas including a bio sauna, a steam bath used for cruising, quiet cabins with television, relaxation areas, slings, a darkroom and a play area. The layout is genuinely labyrinthine and takes a visit or two to learn.
Men only, 18 and over. The house runs a heavy calendar of themed days, and the crowd includes a large share of visitors from abroad.
