Why Not is the oldest gay disco in Vienna, running since 1980, and it sits in the first district rather than out on the Guertel where most of the city's clubbing happens.
Three floors, three bars. The ground floor works as the arrival bar where people stand and talk, the upper levels hold the dancefloor. The music is pop, club classics and the kind of late-night singalong material that a mixed-age crowd actually knows.
It is a weekend club and stays open until well after sunrise. The crowd is a mix of Viennese regulars and visitors, and it gets crowded rather than half-empty.
