Cafe Rifugio is a small gay day bar on the Schoenbrunner Strasse in the fifth district, a short walk from the Naschmarkt end of the scene.
It runs on regulars. The room is one bar and a handful of tables, the crowd is mostly local and mostly older, and people are greeted by name. That makes it an easy first stop for a visitor who would rather talk to someone than stand in a loud room.
