Musikcafe Sax is in the old town on Klammstraße, a few minutes from the main square. The room is done in deep red and gold, with painted panels, gilt frames and chandeliers, and it looks nothing like the rest of the street.
The bar describes itself as a gay bar. In practice the crowd is mixed and the place works as a neighbourhood bar as much as a scene one, with party music, a drinks list that runs from cocktails to wine, and a kitchen. Behind the building there is a courtyard to sit out in, which doubles as the smoking area.
The room is air-conditioned, which is worth knowing in a Linz summer, and dogs are allowed in. Catering for events outside the bar can be arranged.
