Blue Heaven is a bar for men in the Neustadtviertel, a few streets from the main station and from the Linz queer centre. A neon sign over the door carries the name, and the room behind it is small and worked in blue and orange light.
It describes itself as a bar for men, and that is what it is: a drinking bar rather than a club, with a counter, a handful of tables, music and no real dance floor. The nights it puts on are parties, birthdays among them, announced on its own front page and nowhere else.
The crowd is largely regulars and runs older than the queer bar a few streets away. The bar closes one day a week and shortens its week over the summer, so it is worth checking before making the walk.
